The American Concrete Institute (ACI) has published the updated version of the ACI Nondestructive Testing Specialist – Concrete Strength Certification program workbook, CP-92 3rd Edition. This 104-page workbook is a comprehensive study guide that contains all the information needed to prepare for the Nondestructive Testing Specialist—Concrete Strength certification exams. The workbook includes program information and instructional materials, technical sections, study questions, sample checklists, job-task analysis, and supplemental documents. It has been rewritten by ACI technical experts and includes full procedural information supported by all-new full-color imagery. A Nondestructive Testing Specialist – Concrete Strength is a person who has demonstrated knowledge and ability to properly perform specified tests on hardened concrete by passing the ACI Certification examinations. ACI will grant certification only to those applicants who meet both of the following requirements: A passing grade on the ACI written examination; and Successful completion of the ACI performance examination. The 90-minute written examination is closed-book and consists of approximately 70 multiple-choice questions. There are eight to 12 questions for each ASTM test method and practice. To pass the written examination, both of the following conditions must be met: At least 60% correct for each of the required test methods and practices; AND A minimum score of 70% overall. The performance examination is also "closed book" and requires actual demonstration of four of the required test methods and practices. The examinee is judged on his/her ability to correctly perform (or describe, where allowed) all of the required steps for each procedure. Once complete and passed, the certification is valid for five years. To purchase the updated workbook, CP-92 3rd Edition: Nondestructive Testing Specialist – Concrete Strength, visit the ACI Bookstore. And for a complete list of ACI Certification sessions, visit the ACI Certification Sessions Calendar.
